Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding countdown has officially begun. So now, the natural next question is: What will Sonam wear on May 8? Below are a few dresses we can see the actor wearing.

By now, everyone has heard the news: Actor Sonam Kapoor and boyfriend Anand Ahuja are getting married on May 8. We knew the news was coming soon, as it was reported that choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan was choreographing some dance sequences for Sonam’s sangeet and the actor was spotted shopping jewellery in Kolkata in January with Anand’s mother. But the pair’s families finally announced their wedding and we couldn’t be happier.

The wedding countdown has officially begun. Now the natural next question is: What will Sonam wear?

The Veere Di Wedding star has a timeless but anything-but-boring style and toes the line between classy and slightly edgy. The possibilities are endless. In a February 2018 interview with Brides Today magazine, Sonam said of her wedding dress style: “I don’t like fashion pieces. I like beautiful, traditional Indian clothes, that don’t go out of style.”

In the past, Sonam has demonstrated such an affinity to Kolkata-based designer Anamika Khanna, in whose creations she has been spotted on numerous occasions, including her Brides Today spread. It’s no surprise then that Sonam once said this about her wearing a design from Anamika’s eponymous label, “Everybody dreams of being an Anamika bride. I just have an added advantage.”

“Don’t do the mathapatti, the nose ring, the necklace, and the hathphool all together. Every piece should not be a statement piece. There should be one thing that’s beautiful and stunning, and everything else has to accentuate it,” she told Brides Today, adding that a traditional silk saree is a must-have for every bride.

Sonam also opened up about her groom’s wedding style and said she likes “a little bit of matchy-matchy things, but there just has to be an element of that.”

“It can’t be the same fabric, with the same embroidery on the outfit that the bride is also wearing. I just find it a bit too much,” Sonam said.

Now, we have a few days before Sonam’s big day, so to hold us over until then, below are a few dresses we can see the actor wearing to her traditional morning Sikh wedding.
