FIFA U-17 World Cup: Germany team in love with Indian food, culture and music

Germany U-17 team playing in FIFA U-17 World Cup has developed quite a fetish for Indian food, culture and music over the last couple of weeks.

Over the years we have seen visiting cricket teams develop a liking for the Indian food, culture and music, especially the Australians thanks to their stints in the Indian Premier League.

The Germany under-17 team is no different. In the last couple of weeks their fetish for the Indian food, culture and music (read Bollywood) has only grown.

So what’s their favourite song? “Kala Chashma. They tell me play that song on the loop and sing along as well,” informs the German Team Liaison Officer (TLO). Every team has a local TLO attached to it to make their travel comfortable.

A chef from Germany has also been travelling with the Die Mannschaft but he has been told to cook some local delicacies as well with masala omelette being the favourite among players.

Germany left for Kochi on Wednesday for the last Group C game against Guinea, which is a must-win game for both the teams to keep their hopes alive in the Fifa U-17 World Cup.

Hopefully, Indian music and food can play its part to help them get over the disappointment of humiliating loss to Iran on Tuesday.
