For the convenience of shoppers and commuters, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has decided to install 100 mobile toilet blocks at busy markets, parks and crossings in Gurgaon.

The mobile toilets will first be placed at DLF City, Sushant Lok, MG Road, Galleria market, Golf Course Road, Huda City Centre, Bristol Chowk and National Highway-8.

The charges for using the facility have not been fixed yet.

Huda officials said ground work is on to give shape to the project and the toilets will be set up within a fortnight.

The project has been outsourced to a private agency which will handle the cleaning and maintenance work of these blocks.

Huda executive engineer Naresh Pawar said, “We are coming up with the unique concept of mobile toilet blocks to avoid inconvenience to residents, shopkeepers and commuters at public places. The project is being initiated with the help of 3S, a construction company, who will be arranging and placing the blocks at identified places.”

“Discussions are on to fix the user charges. I think it should range between R2 to R5 per visit,” Pawar added.

Renu Budiyan, a resident of Sushant Lok, said, “The concept is good and mobile toilets will be very helpful for the public, especially women. It will also end the problem of men urinating in public places.”
