2 ASIs caught accepting Rs. 20,000 bribe

The state vigilance department caught Sunil Kumar and Satbir, two ASI-rank police personnel working in the electricity vigilance team for the last three years, red-handed while accepting Rs. 20,000 bribe from a subscriber on Thursday evening.

The vigilance team reached Basai village on a tip-off where the duo had gone to collect the money. The officials had allegedly struck a deal of Rs. 80,000 with a defaulter customer of which they had already collected Rs. 40,000.

The duo had gone to the village to fetch the third instalment when the state vigilance team swooped upon them, said Mukesh Bhayana of the Haryana State Electricity Board, adding that his union had earlier requested the government to make the post in the electricity vigilance team transferable every year. The accused officials will be produced in court on Friday.
