The protestors claimed that Ardee Infrastructure Limited compelled them to move into the apartments without providing them an occupation certificate (OC), a mandatory document.

“The developer built six towers here with 200 apartments in which nearly 1,000 residents are living since 2006 but none of the owners have got the OC which means we are illegal occupants in the eyes of the government,” said Navin Kumar, a resident of Ardee Residency.

The residents have given two weeks’ ultimatum to the builder after which they will hold another protest at its head office in New Delhi.

“I was not in office and have no idea on what grounds the residents held the protest. I would not like to comment,” said Anil Hasija, general manager, Ardee Infrastructure Limited.

Poor maintenance of the locality also cropped up as another point of protest. “The builder is charging us high maintenance fee for poor services,” said BK Anand, president of the residents’ welfare association.
