Gurgaon: Following a series of meetings with developers, residents’ welfare association (RWA) representatives and residents at the Mini-Secretariat on Tuesday, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has said that it will take over maintenance of nine private colonies from next month, provided it is satisfied with the existing amenities in these colonies.

The takeover will hinge on a deficiencies assessment report that will be submitted next month by consultants hired by the MCG. The report will contain feedback of on-the-spot surveys and will also list deficiencies in amenities at these colonies.

MCG commissioner V Umashankar said the report will check if existing infrastructure in these colonies are in sync with the maps submitted by the developers to the town and country planning department and that provisions offered will also cater to future population projections.

Once completed, MCG officials added that the assessment report will be uploaded on the MCG’s website www.mcg.gov.in by June 15 or June 30 for public review.

“Following the assessment report’s findings, the licensee will be given an option to either fulfil the deficiencies within a period of six months or transfer its maintenance to the MCG and pay an evaluated sum needed for the civic body to complete or overhaul amenities,” Umashankar said.

RWAs of DLF Phase 1,2,3; Sushant Lok Phase 1, Palam Vihar, South City-1 and 2, Ardee City and Suncity attended the series of meetings along with developers DLF, Ansal, Essel, Ardee and Unitech.

Last month, the state government had directed the MCG to take over the maintenance of private colonies and complete the process by June 30, after there was no progress on the directions given by the government in February 2016.

Upon the completion of transfer, services such as sanitation, sewage, water supply, maintenance of open spaces and common areas will be looked after by the MCG in these colonies.
