In an effort to reduce complaints of power breakdowns, the electricity distribution companies (discoms) have begun a survey before carrying out repair works and strengthening power distribution system.

According to electricity department officials, the augmentation work will be completed in one month. This drive will be followed by a "crash programme", which will cover works like tightening loose conductors, erection of additional poles and maintenance of transformers, etc.
The crash programme for strengthening the system is to be completed within the next six months.
An order to this effect was issued by the chairman and managing director of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Devender Singh.
Singh held a meeting with discom officials on Tuesday and asked them to prepare a list of works to be carried out in each area.
For crash programmer, more officials will be deployed.
The CMD has asked field officers to bring down aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses from 30% to 15%, reduce the number of complaints, increase time of power supply and improve power supply.
