Police have identified the duo as Dhanveer and Rajat from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district. Police said the fruits and vegetables businessman, Pawan Kumar, trusted the duo that he even asked them to handle his daily cash dealings
Based on Kumar’s complaint, police have booked a case against the two men under Section 408 (criminal breach of trust by a clerk or servant) of the Indian Penal Code.
“The two worked as domestic helps in his house and also lend a hand in business. We have booked them under relevant sections and are looking for them,” a police spokesperson said.
During preliminary investigation, police found that the businessman had not verified the credentials of the two men before hiring them.
Of late, the city has seen rise is cases of theft and robbery by domestic helps raising serious questions on the safety of residents.
There are as many as 170 placement agencies operating in Gurgaon which promise to provide services of fully trained helps for the convenience of working people. Most of these do not verify the credentials of the maids with police.
