E-tailer’s truck hijacked in Gurugram, goods worth ₹7 lakh taken

A truck-trailer of an e-tailer was hijacked in the wee hours of Tuesday in Garhi Harsaru area by a gang, who abandoned it after stealing goods worth ₹6.7 lakh from it, the police said.

The gang hit the driver on his head with sticks, leaving him unconscious. The truck was transporting goods from e-tailer Amazon’s warehouse in Manesar to Jahangirpuri in Delhi and the role of an insider is suspected, Mukesh Kumar, station house officer of Farrukhnagar police station, said.

The driver, upon regaining consciousness, informed his brother, who informed the police, Kumar said. An FIR was lodged at Farrukhnagar police station under Section 379 B of the IPC, based on a complaint filed by the driver.

The driver, Sunil, 33, told police that he had left the warehouse at 1.10am on Tuesday and when he reached the junction near TCI company on Gurugram-Pataudi Road, a car obstructed his way.

“Four to five unidentified persons blocked my way by parking their white sedan in front of the truck. Two of them entered the truck by force,” Sunil alleged.

“Only expensive items were stolen and the accused left behind the other goods in the truck in an isolated location, about four kilometres from the spot that it was hijacked,” Kumar said.
