The FIR was lodged by DTP(E) Anil Dabas at the Kherki Daula Police Station.
Dabas alleged that the builder company — SKM Refcon Private Limited — had been booking plots in Sectors 78 and 79 under its project ‘Cambrian Island’.
“This is a pre-launch type of project and the company used to lure investors through advertisements on the internet. As it does not have a valid licence to sell plots, the project is illegal,” he added. “The pre-launching of builder projects in Haryana is a banned practice.”
To save prospective buyers from being duped of their hard-earned money, Dabas has asked them to verify the legal status of the construction company from the local office of the DTP before booking a plot or flat.
“Nobody can book or sell plots without obtaining a valid licence from the Town and Country Planning Department. If anyone does so, it is illegal. Obtaining a licence is mandatory before the launch or pre-launch of a project,” he said.
Dabas said a number of advertisements daily appeared in newspapers and on the internet wherein realtors offered bookings of plots and flats at certain rates. “Prospective buyers who want to invest in immovable property are lured by these offers and fall into their trap,” he added.
