The Gurgaon police on Sunday claimed to have rescued a businessman and his friend who were dumped in his car by three men who had allegedly kidnapped them Saturday night.

Police said that the victim, Ishan Sharma, a resident to IMT Manesar, was heading towards a petrol pump along with a friend at around 9 pm in his Audi car. He had stopped the car near Sector 3 petrol pump in Manesar when three men in an SUV approached them pointing a gun.

Sharma and his friend were bundled into the SUV while one of the three men drove the businessman’s car.

The kidnappers used Sharma’s phone to call his parents and ask for a ransom of the 5 crore for his release. His parents promptly informed the police about the call.

Acting swiftly, the police traced the phone call and found the victim and the car in Nayagaon area at Jhajjar bypass early Sunday morning. The abductors had tied the hands and legs of both men. The accused are absconding and a search operation is on, police said.

A case has been registered at the IMT Manesar police station under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 379 (theft) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“Investigation is still on and we are trying to nab the culprits soon,” inspector, Narender Kumar, station house officer, IMT Manesar police station said.

Carjacking and vehicle theft cases are on the rise in and around Gurgaon. Every day more than half a dozen of vehicle theft cases are registered with the police.

On July 29, five unidentified people snatched a Mahindra XUV at gunpoint at Sector 83 from an IT executive.

The victim Aman Puri was on his way to buy paan from a shop which is located 300 meters away from his house when the incident took place.
