Gurugram civic body issues notice to illegal meat shops, designates two suppliers
The development comes after the MCG issued notices to 108 licenced meat shop owners in the city, asking them to procure meat from two slaughterhouses finalised by the civic body last month.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has started issuing notices to illegal meat sellers on Saturday, giving them a week to either shut shop or face action by the civic body.

The development comes after the MCG issued notices to 108 licenced meat shop owners in the city, asking them to procure meat from two slaughterhouses finalised by the civic body last month. The move, the civic body says, will benefit the meat shop owners, as they along with concessionaires will finalise the price at which selling and procuring of meat will be carried out.
“We have started issuing notices to illegal meat shop owners, starting Saturday, asking them to stop their operations. Otherwise, the MCG will force them to shut their shops during the upcoming drive,” said Ashish Singla, medical officer, MCG.
MCG officials said more than 10 illegal shops were served notices, and the process of issuing notices will continue till March. On February 21, the MCG empanelled two agencies for supplying meat to 108 licenced meat shops in the city. The two slaughterhouses will supply 40 metric tonnes of mutton and 36 metric tonnes of chicken to the licenced meat shops.
