In the first phase, every house in 39 authorised colonies will be allotted an address plate -- a metal plank measuring 5x7 inches bearing details of house number, street number, ward number and colony.

An agency will be hired for the purpose, said an MCG official.

"The exercise will help people identify the addresses easily apart from giving the house owners MCG-endorsed attractive address plates," said the official, adding that the aesthetics of streets will also improve.

Address plates will also be allotted to houses in 45 unauthorised colonies. A decision on it will be taken in the next MCG House meeting, said the official.
