The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) de-sealed two petrol pumps on Wednesday soon after the operator deposited partial amount of outstanding rent.
On April 11, Huda had sealed four petrol pumps in the city for non-payment of rent as per the land lease agreement. Together, the four pumps owe nearly Rs. 7 crore to Huda, which had given them time till March 31 to deposit the money. According to Huda, the owners of these stations had failed to deposit the rent for the past several years.
The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), which operates two fuel stations — one at Sector 9-A and the other at Sector 37-2 — paid 25% of the total dues to Huda following the order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
“We have de-sealed the two pumps following the high court order,” said Narender Singh Yadav, estate officer (EO), Huda.
The two other petrol pumps are yet to pay. “Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), which owns Sector 12-A petrol pump, had not been paying rent for years,” said a official.
“We will go by the court order and pay 25% amount at the earliest to get the pump de-sealed,” said Dinesh Dagar, sales manager HPCL, adding that the court has asked the Huda to give detail calculations of the outstanding amounts on all the four petrol pumps.
IOC’s third (of the four sealed) petrol pump is located at Sector 18, where the franchise owner is supposed to pay the rent directly to Huda. But Huda official say that the franchise owner has not been paying for several years.
“The Sector 18 pump and HPCL’s Sector 12 A petrol pump have not been de-sealed yet as they have not deposited the 25% amount,” said the EO, adding that these owners have promised payment by Monday.
