During a meeting held between representatives of the Industrial Model Township (IMT), Manesar, and DHBVN chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) Devinder Singh earlier this week, it was proposed to ensure up to 95% power supply to industrial feeders against a raised charge per unit of the electricity.
"While we are proposing to pay 50 paise more per unit, DHBVN wants us to pay nearly R1.05," said Sameer Lamba of the electricity committee, Manesar Industries Welfare Association (Miwa).
"We discussed with the DHBVN CMD that at least 50% of us will have to give our approval for the scheme to take off," said Lamba.
The consent of nearly 400 industrialists will be required, of which, 50 have already given their go-ahead.
The scheme will benefit industrialists as they pay Rs 15 per unit of electricity generated through diesel generator sets, on which they depend heavily as the Manesar area reels under prolonged power cuts.
Therefore, an extra charge of up to Re 1 per unit will be nominal for them.
The industry association will raise the issue at the upcoming meeting of the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC), the body that takes policy decisions.
