Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is trying hard so that both the PM and the UPA chief attend the event, the sources added.

The first-of-its kind 100% privately funded and operated Metro rail service has come at the investment of R1,100 crore.

“We are going to invite Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the inaugural event. It is up to him whom he decides to further invite. But one thing is for sure, this is going to be a gala show because of the very nature of the project. Rapid Metro is the flagship project of not only our company, but of the entire country,” said Sanjiv Rai, chairman and managing director, RMGL.

The Rapid Metro will be the only Metro in India to have no overhead wires and pillars. It will draw power from a continuous rigid conductor placed alongside or between the rails of a track. The trains, made of 100% aluminium, will have a passenger capacity of approximately 1,000 and a maximum speed of 80 kmph.
