“We will not pay the tax till MCG provides civic amenities,” said RS Rathee, president, Gurgaon Citizens’ Council, during an interactive session organised by HT on Saturday.

“We have already been paying our developers for the services,” said a resident.

The MCG has been trying to collect an outstanding amount of R600 crore pending against house tax. “We have every right to collect house tax from residents living in municipal limits. We will send the bills shortly,” said a senior official.

Residents also complained that developers were illegally opening shops without the consent of the RWA. VK Verma, a resident of Ridgewood Estate, said, “The builders allot shops even as our children are deprived of space to play.”
