'No power, no maintenance fee'

The residents of Sushant Lok 1 on Sunday decided not to pay the increased maintenance fee to the developer unless the water and electricity crisis was resolved for once and all.

The maintenance fee has been increased from Rs 1 per square metre to Rs 2.9 per square metre.

Residents say they will continue to pay the old fare till the time the issue is not resolved.

Pro Facility, also known as Profac, was handed over the maintenance of the colony by Ansal, the developer, a few years ago.

"Profac increased the maintenance fee from Rs 1 to Rs 2.90 per square metre in February, but did not improve the condition of water, power and security," said Anup Verma, a resident, adding that the residents have sent a warning to Profac.

Profac, however, denied to have received any warning.

"I have not received any such message," said KD Akolia, director, Profac.

According to residents, the developer had planned to set up a 66 KV sub-station to improve the power scenario in the colony, but no such station was set up.

They also allege the developer has not laid the water pipeline to get supply from the Huda water canal.

"The developer (Ansal) had not made any commitment to set up a 66 KV sub-station. We have no idea how this issue has come up," said Akolia, terming the warning of the residents "baseless".

According to residents, the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) had sent a notice to the management to set its own sub-station.

"We met HVPN officials last week and requested them not to disconnect the power supply we get from the sub-station located at Sector 53. Ansal had to pay Rs 26 crore to HVPN to set up the sub-station," said Anil Sharma, RWA general secretary.
