Vijay Singh Dahiya, the new commissioner of the MCG, has directed chief medical officer (CMO) Dr VK Thapar to inspect the operation of the plant.

"I will sit there from Monday and inspect the operation," said Dr Thapar. "I will take note of the problems that the management has been raising since it started operation regarding short supply of electricity and excessive garbage dumping at the plant from Gurgaon and Faridabad," he added.

"The plant is located in the Arvali range and dumping of garbage may lead to irreparable damage to the environment and the groundwater," added the MCG official.

Meanwhile, the MCG commissioner has requested an expert panel of engineers of the Haryana government to visit the plant and find a permanent solution to the problems raised by the management.

The order came after Dahiya made a surprise visit to the Bandhwari plant on November 28 and expressed his dissatisfaction over the poor operation of the plant.

Dahiya had also rapped the management for not maintaining the logbook at the plant site.

"It was carelessness on the part of the plant contractor as he was not maintaining the logbook which is a record of the plant's daily operation," he added.

The commissioner, in the absence of the logbook, was unable to assess the plant's output that mainly consists of refused derived fuel (RDF) and composts that the plant sells to earn revenue.

"I have asked the CMO to take note of every detail of the plant," added the MCG commissioner.

Dahiya has been coming down heavily upon the waste treatment plant from very first day of his joining.
