Prohibitory orders ahead of Maruti workers' protest

The order was given keeping in mind the possible confrontation between villagers and agitating workers. As per deputy commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi's order, assembly of more than five people is prohibited at IMT Manesar, Maruti Suzuki factory premises in Manesar, Devi Lal Park, National Highway-8 and the Mini Secretariat.

A number of workers' unions will assemble at Manesar on Thursday to mark one-year of violence at the automobile giant's plant.

As per the DC's directive on Tuesday, holding any kind of procession and dharna at these places has been banned.

Villagers and panchayats of various villages, including Kasan, Dhana, Bas Padamka and Bas Kusla, have submitted memoranda to the police commissioner and the deputy commissioner, stating that they will oppose any demonstration or dharna in IMT Manesar area. Hence, the authorities are apprehending confrontation between the villagers and the agitating workers.

The DC has banned carrying of weapons such as arms, sword, sickle, knives and cycle.

These orders will be enforced on July 18 and the violators will be punished under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).The police have been directed to ensure compliance of these orders.
