Subhash Chowk flyover design gets Huda nod
The Millennium City will soon witness massive upgrade in its infrastructure. Dhananjay Jha reports.
The Millennium City will soon witness massive upgrade in its infrastructure. Soon after the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) initiated the work on flyover and underpass projects, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has set the ball rolling for two big-ticket flyovers — one at Subhash Chowk and another at Badshahpur on Sohna Road.

The two flyovers would prove to be a boon for New Gurgaon areas.
The private firm, which was given the contract for preparing the general agreement drawing, on Monday submitted it to the Huda.
A senior Huda official said the authority had approved the design. According to the proposal, a 600-m flyover would be constructed at Subhash Chowk on the road connecting Cyber City and Hero Honda Chowk.
“The company has submitted the drawing of the flyover. We would be able to estimate the cost only after the firm submits the detailed project report,” said a senior official, Huda.
The official said the firm is likely to submit the detailed project report in a month.
The proposed flyover at Badshahpur is in the planning stage. According to traffic experts, these two flyovers would decongest New Gurgaon areas in a big way.
Moreover, the traffic department has been demanding flyovers at these busy intersections. “After the construction of these flyovers, traffic management would become much easy. The traffic situation becomes unmanageable during peak hours at Subhash Chowk. We had taken up the issue with the Huda several times,” said a senior traffic official.
Commuters, too, welcomed the move.
“A flyover at Subhash Chowk was the need of the hour. It will definitely ease traffic woes of New Gurgaon residents and ensure non-stop traffic flow,” said Raj Kiran, a resident.
