Val Kilmer feels the need to join Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick

Val Kilmer will return as Iceman in the sequel to Top Gun, which will also see Tom Cruise reprise his role as Maverick.

Actor Val Kilmer will be returning for the sequel of the 1986 classic, Top Gun. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the 58-year-old actor will reprise his iconic role of a skilled fighter pilot and beach volleyball player Tom Kazansky a.k.a. Iceman.

Tom Cruise will also be returning in the lead role, as Maverick. In the film, Cruise and Kilmer played foe-turned-friends and became a hit pair after earning each other’s respect.

Helmed by Joseph Kosinski of Oblivion fame, the film will follow the struggle of fighter pilots getting used to drone technology. The film is slated to hit theatres on July 12, 2019.
