19-year-old killed, friend injured after truck hits motorcycle on Delhi's Indraprastha flyover

A police team reached the spot and found a motorcycle lying in a damaged condition and two people seriously injured. One of them died in the hospital.

A 19-year-old man was killed and his 22-year-old friend was injured after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a truck on Indraprastha (IP) flyover near ITO in central Delhi on Sunday morning. Police identified the deceased by his first name Aman, a resident of Madanpur Khadar in south Delhi.

Police said a case of rash and negligent driving causing death and injury was registered. Police are scanning CCTV cameras to identify the truck.

At least two men were killed, and another was injured in two separate road accidents between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, police said.

Police receive accident call at 6.21am

In the first road accident, a 19-year-old man was killed, and his 22-year-old friend was injured after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by an unknown truck at Indraprastha (IP) flyover near the ITO in central Delhi on Sunday morning.

Deputy commissioner of police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said that around 6.21am on Sunday, the IP Estate police station received a call about a road accident on the IP flyover.

A police team reached the spot and found a motorcycle lying in a damaged condition and two people seriously injured. They were rushed to Sushruta Trauma Centre, where one of them was declared dead on arrival.

Aman was riding motorcycle, friend was pillion

Police identified him as Aman, a resident of Madanpur Khadar in south Delhi. The injured person was identified as Alber, a resident of Batla House in Jamia Nagar in south Delhi.

“During the inquiry, it was learnt that Aman was riding the motorcycle and Alber was on the pillion seat,” said the DCP.

Police said a case of rash and negligent driving causing death and injury was registered.

E-rickshaw driver killed in Mangolpuri

In another accident that took place on Saturday evening in the Mangolpuri area, a 37-year-old e-rickshaw driver was killed after his vehicle collided with a mini commercial tempo.

Police identified the deceased as Jitender Rathore. He was travelling in an e-rickshaw that his relative Kalu was driving at the time of the crash.

Tempo driver arrested

Police impounded the tempo and arrested the driver identified as 29-year-old Lalit. A case of rash driving and death by negligence has been registered, police added.
