3 dead, 21 injured as pickup vehicle crashes into pole in Karnataka: Police
Police registered a case at the Bhimarayanagudi police station, under section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Three women died and 21 others were injured after a pickup vehicle carrying labourers back to their homes collided into an electric police on Sunday morning in Karnataka’s Yadgir district, near Mandal village, police said.

Police sub-inspector (PSI) Devendra Reddy told HT, “The labourers had left early in the morning around 6am to work in agricultural fields in Madnal village, where they were engaged in removing weeds from cotton crops. After completing their work, they were returning to their village in a pickup vehicle when the accident occurred at 9:30am near Madnal. The pickup vehicle, reportedly travelling at high speed, went out of control and crashed violently into an electric pole on the roadside. Three died on the spot”
“Twenty-one were injured; 14 were referred from Shahapur Hospital to Gulbarga for further treatment, and seven people are undergoing treatment at Shahapur Hospital. Among them, an 11-year-old boy sustained a severe head injury and is in critical condition,” he added.

The deceased have been identified as Soubagya(25), Honna Ningavva (18), and Satyavva (35). All three were residents of areas around Madnal village and depended on daily wage labour to make a living.
The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination. Police registered a case at the Bhimarayanagudi police station, under section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and further investigation is underway.
