Station House Officer (SHO) Rai Singh Suthar said some people were returning in a Churu-registered Bolero after attending a wedding in Pilani when the SUV collided with the dumper truck and caught fire.

The injured were pulled out of the two vehicles with the help of locals and rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment, he said.

Suthar said the accident led to a long traffic jam and vehicles had to be diverted to ease the congestion.

IPS officer Abhijit Patil said the identification of the deceased was difficult as the bodies were charred in the fire.
