3 killed, 2 injured as ambulance collides with Army truck in Rajasthan: Police

A private ambulance was mangled in a collision with an Army truck in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar, leaving three dead and two injured.

Three people were killed and two others were injured after a private ambulance collided head-on with an army truck in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district on Sunday morning, police said.

Three people died and two were seriously injured after a private ambulance collided head-on with an Army truck on NH-62 in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar.

The accident took place near 22 Lalgarh Jatan Minor Watercourse (LGW) on National Highway 62. The ambulance was completely mangled in the impact of the collision.

A police team led by sub-inspector Sampat Dhayyal reached the spot and, with the help of locals, pulled the two injured persons out of the wreckage and shifted them to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were sent to the mortuary for postmortem examination.

Dhayyal said the three occupants of the ambulance died on the spot, while two others suffered serious injuries. The deceased were all residents of 5B Koni village.

Police said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be established and is being investigated. Evidence is being collected from the accident site as part of the probe.

The collision also disrupted traffic on National Highway 62 for some time. Police cleared the damaged vehicles from the road and restored traffic after the rescue operation.
