Beauty product company apologises after ‘boycott’ call amid Richa Chadha row
Richa Chadha deleted the controversial Galwan tweet and apologised for it. But the row continues and now a beauty product company associated with the actor has said sorry for somewhat supporting the actor's Galwan statement earlier.
Beauty product company Mamaearth has issued an apology after it faced a boycott call on social media for seemingly supporting Bollywood actor Richa Chadha in the row over her Galwan tweet for which the actor also apologised. "Mamaearth sincerely regrets hurting any sentiments due to a poorly drafted comment on Twitter. We are a proud Indian company that respects and stands by our armed forces. We do not subscribe to the views shared by any individual who thinks otherwise," the company tweeted. Mamaearth CEO Ghazal Alagh separately posted a photo with the National Flag and clarified that the comment was made by one team member and it unintentionally hurt a lot of people. "We do not support any idea against the Indian Army. We are a company run entirely by proud Indians," the CEO tweeted.
Why Mamaearth faced a boycott call in the Richa Chadha row
Replying to the tweet of a user who questioned the brand's stand on actor Richa Chadha's 'Galwan says hi' tweet, the official account of the brand issued a statement that the brand does not support anyone mocking the Indian Army. But at the same time, it said that the three-word tweet of Richa Chadha was 'not conclusive'. “We interpret this a recall of the upperhand Indian Army had in such a tough terrain and even being outnumbered at the standoff (sic),” it said.
The statement irked a section of social media users who called for boycotting Mamaearth products. The company then deleted the statement and issued an apology.

Reacting to the statement of Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi that the Army is always ready to carry out the order of the government -- be it the order to take back the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Richa Chadha wrote, "Galwan says hi". The tweet triggered a massive backlash forcing the actor to delete her tweet. Issuing an apology statement, Richa Chadha clarified that her intention was not to insult the Indian Army as she herself belongs to an army family.
However, the apology did not douse the fire as several Bollywood celebrities, including Akshay Kumar, issued statements over the row.
