Amid Cockroach Janta Party's ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, the youth-led movement's chief spokesperson Saurav Das was engaged in a war of words with Mohandas Pai, chairman of Aarin Capital, after the later suggested how the CJP should move ahead with its campaign.

Pai had a bunch of suggestions for the CJP's campaign to highlight the infrastructural issues of government-run schools in India. But Das rejected them as ‘slow, boring, unconnected to reality’.

What set off the war of words

It all began with Pai's comment after CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka highlighted how the volunteers came under attack in Jaipur while they were on their way to ‘inspect’ a school, reportedly functioning from a cow shelter.

Pai called his allegations rubbish and said that the CJP volunteers should have not gone as a ‘mob’ to the school.

Das reacted sharply to Pai's remarks and said, “Sir, please come along with us next time and show us how to do it best. You lead, we follow. Deal?”

On this, Pai offered a bunch of suggestions, which included forming two groups of volunteers in all states and inspect schools after getting permission ‘respectfully’.

"Prepare a report on the status on the ground by Taluk and give it to the state government Then demand change armed with full data. Publish a quarterly report and talk to citizens. Now you have data on your side and citizens will respect you for your work. You will know which state is behind,” Pai wrote.

However, Das noted that all of this was already being done by the NITI Aayog and independent NGOs. “Yet you see what you see. Groups of two in unruly states, take permission and what not? Respectfully sir, your suggestion is slow, boring, unconnected to reality. Much like the present system!” Das wrote.

CJP volunteers allege attack in Jaipur

CJP volunteers, led by co-convener Ranka, were allegedly assaulted by a group of people on Friday while they were on their way to inspect a government school in Jaipur’s Bagru assembly constituency.

One of the volunteers suffered a fractured arm in the attack, Ranka said.

The incident occurred near Rampura Kanwarpura village, where Ranka and his team planned to visit a government school to assess its infrastructure and facilities.

The CJP team had planned to visit two government schools in Jaipur, one at Rampura Kanwarpura and the other at Bhatta Wala on Vatika Road.

According to the party, the visits were aimed at assessing the condition of school buildings, the education system and facilities available to students.

Ranka had earlier posted on social media about the condition of the primary school at Rampura Kanwarpura. According to him, the main school building has become unsafe and has been closed after portions of the roof and beams deteriorated. The structure is being supported with iron angles.

Students have consequently been shifted to a shed around 50 metres from the main building, where they are studying under a tin roof, Ranka alleged. He also claimed that animal fodder was lying inside the shed and that bricks had fallen from portions of the structure.
