Former Madhya Pradesh home minister and Congress leader Bala Bachchan’s daughter was among three people killed after a speeding car collided with a truck in Indore early Friday morning, police said.

The three were identified as Prerna, Bachchan’s daughter, Prakhar Kasliwal, son of state Congress spokesperson Anand Kasliwal, and Mansindhu, a transporter. Another passenger, Anushka Rathi, sustained serious injuries.

Deputy police commissioner Krishna Lal Chandani said the four were returning after celebrating Prakhar Kasliwal’s birthday in Mhow when their car hit the truck around 5:15am. “Prakhar, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a truck. Prerna, Prakhar, and Mansindhu died on the spot. Anushka was rushed to the hospital.” Prerna was preparing for the civil services examinations.

Devendra Markam, a local police officer, said a case has been registered. “The collision was so severe that the car was destroyed. The truck driver fled with his vehicle, and efforts are underway to trace him,” he said.
