Father killed in celebratory firing at daughter’s birthday party, suicide suspected

Manoj Kumar, a truck driver, had fired a bullet from his licenced pistol to celebrate the eighth birthday of his daughter at his rented residence. The bullet hit Manoj’s chest who died on the spot.

A 40-year-old man was allegedly killed in celebratory firing during his daughter’s birthday party at Sector 4, Karnal on Wednesday night.

Manoj Kumar, a truck driver, had fired a bullet from his licenced pistol to celebrate the eighth birthday of his daughter at his rented residence. The bullet hit Manoj’s chest who died on the spot.

Sector 4 police station in-charge assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Charan Singh said, “Possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out.”

Body of the deceased was handed to the family after the postmortem.
