Govt employee injured in Kasauli shooting suffers cardiac arrest
The PWD employee, who was injured in shooting when a Kasauli hotel owner allegedly shot dead a town planner on demolition drive, is ‘unstable’ and has been put on a ventilator
An employee of the Himachal Pradesh public works department (PWD) who was injured in the shooting in Kasauli on May 1 that killed a woman government officer during a demolition drive of illegal constructions has been put on a ventilator after a suffering a cardiac arrest at Chandigarh’s PGIMER Thursday morning.
Gulab Singh’s condition is reported to be unstable. His colleague in the PWD Narain Singh said the 46-year-old was doing much better for the past two days. However, while changing his bed in one of the emergency wards at the hospital on Thursday morning, he suddenly suffered a cardiac attack.
“He is not stable at all at the moment and isn’t even responding. We’ll have to wait it out for a bit to see how things progress. He is under observation,” said a doctor confirming the development.
Gulab Singh had been admitted to the PGIMER soon after being hit by a bullet few inches below his heart when hotel owner Vijay Singh allegedly fired following a heated argument during the demolition drive. Assistant town planning officer Shail Bala Sharma who was also hit, died on the spot. Vijay Singh who fled from the spot, was arrested from Mathura two days later.
The Supreme Court had on April 17 ordered the state government to demolish unauthorised structures in several hotels and guesthouses in Kasauli and Dharampur areas of Solan district. Four teams were constituted by the authorities to carry out the work.
