India Pakistan ceasefire news live: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that Operation Sindoor was launched to target terrorists, not Pakistan. 

He said the operation would continue as part of India’s fight against terrorism.

“In Operation Sindoor, we had to destroy terrorist hideouts, which we did,” he said, adding that India now considers even a single terrorist act as a declaration of war.

“This is the new India,” Tiwari said.

India Pakistan ceasefire news live: A day after announcing a ceasefire with India, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs took to X on Sunday to welcome US President Donald Trump’s statement on India-Pakistan ties.

“We acknowledge with appreciation the constructive role played by the United States, alongside other friendly states, in supporting the recent ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India; a step towards de-escalation and regional stability.

We also appreciate President Trump’s expressed willingness to support efforts aimed at the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute - a longstanding issue that has serious implications for peace and security in South Asia and beyond. Pakistan reaffirms that any just and lasting settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and must ensure the realization of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, including their inalienable right to self-determination.

Pakistan remains committed to engaging with the United States and the international community in efforts to promote peace, security, and prosperity in the region. We also look forward to deepening our multifaceted partnership with the United States, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and economic cooperation,” the ministry said in its statement.

India Pakistan ceasefire news live: India's Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, met with the family of Sudip Neupane, a young Nepali national who was among the 26 victims of the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on 22 April 2025. 

He extended condolences on behalf of the Indian government and reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring that those responsible for the Pahalgam attack are brought to justice.

India Pakistan ceasefire news live: Pakistan took its worst hit in the early hours of May 10 when the Indian Air Force struck eight military sites in Pakistan, including airbases, radar units and ammunition dumps, with air-launched precision weapons, in response to the neighbouring military’s brazen attacks on India’s military infrastructure and civilian areas using fighter jets, unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) and missiles.

The IAF struck military targets in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Chunian, Pasrur and Sialkot. The night-long developments marked the fiercest clash between the two militaries since India launched Operation Sindoor. 

The targets hit by India included technical infrastructure, command and control centres, radar sites and weapon storage areas.

India Pakistan news live: Security forces successfully defused a missile that had fallen in an agricultural field in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer. The device was discovered on Saturday.

India and Pakistan agreed to an immediate halt to all hostilities across land, air, and sea following four days of escalating cross-border drone and missile strikes that had pushed both nations to the brink of a full-scale conflict.

Despite the agreement, tensions flared as red streaks lit up the sky and explosions were heard when Indian air defence systems intercepted Pakistani drones over Udhampur amid a blackout. Similar blackouts were also implemented in Punjab’s Pathankot and Ferozepur, as well as in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer and Barmer.

India Pakistan news live: Referring to India's military action targeting terror bases in Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Operation Sindoor is not just a military operation but also the symbol of India's political, social and strategic willpower. This operation against terrorism was also the display of India's willpower and military power & capability. We have shown that whenever India will take any action against terrorism, even the land beyond border won't be safe for terrorists and their leaders.”

Earlier in the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and the chiefs of the three armed forces at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, in New Delhi.

During the inaugural ceremony of BrahMos production unit, defence minister Rajnath Singh said, “The Indian Army has not only demonstrated valour and courage but also restraint, delivering a strong response by striking multiple Pakistani military positions. Our action was not limited to military posts near the border; in fact, the impact of India's armed forces was felt as far as Rawalpindi, where the headquarters of the Pakistani army is located”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, at the inaugural ceremony of BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow, which he attended virtually from Delhi, said, "At the inauguration of BrahMos Integration & Testing Facility Center today, I feel delighted to speak with you. I wanted to attend in person. But you know why I couldn't come. Looking at the situation we are facing, it was important for me to be in Delhi. So, I am joining you via video conferencing..."(ANI)

Police have booked a man for allegedly posting objectionable comments against Operation Sindoor on social media, officials said on Sunday.

In his complaint, Sub-Inspector Karam Veer Singh said, "On May 10, I was on patrolling duty, when a provocative video on Facebook from the account of Vikky Khan (Sahil Khan) went viral. In the video, insulting comments were made on Operation Sindoor carried out against Pakistan."

"Comments were also made against the BJP, due to which there is anger among the people. An attempt was made to make an adverse impact on the national unity," Singh said. The accused will be arrested soon.

After India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire after fours days of military conflict, Imran Ahmad, a local in Poonch tells ANI, "By God's grace, we saw that markets are open today. People are making purchases...Even in the situation earlier, people cooperated. I would like to urge both countries that whenever such a situation occurs, people on both sides suffer losses. I would like to urge the neighbouring country to live and let live..."

Another local, Dilbagh Singh says, "People in Poonch are very happy...The decision between both Govts last night, they came to a good one. I request Pakistan to live and let live..."

Poonch one of the worst hit areas of the India-Pakistan military conflict.

In the aftermath of heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan and the subsequent ceasefire announcement, Pakistan's foreign minister Ishaq Dar held a key conversation with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Sunday. 

In the discussion that Dar, in a social media post, said focused on the evolving regional situation following India-Pakistan's military tensions, China reaffirmed its steadfast support for Pakistan's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national independence.  Read more.

The DGMO, or Director General of Military Operations, is a high-ranking army officer in charge of military planning and border operations.

In India, this position is usually held by a Lieutenant General. The current Indian DGMO is Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, while Pakistan’s DGMO is Major General Kashif Abdullah.

The officer remains in direct contact with counterparts in other countries to manage and de-escalate potential conflicts, as seen in the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions following the April 22 Pahalgam attack, according to a report in The Mint.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and tri-services chiefs at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in New Delhi.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan were also present at the meeting.

The meeting comes after days of heightened tension with Pakistan along the western border, following Operation Sindoor carried out by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7. The operation targeted nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. (ANI)

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has said that it successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. “Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives,” the IAF said. 

“Since the Operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information,” it added. 

Former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid, reacting to US President Donald Trump's offer to mediate on the Kashmir issue on Sunday, said India's long-standing policy, in line with the Simla Agreement, rejects any third-party involvement, stressing that the Kashmir dispute is a bilateral matter to be resolved directly between India and Pakistan through dialogue.

"As far as the Kashmir issue is concerned, India's stated policy is that we do not welcome any third party intervention, this is as per Simla Agreement, this is a dispute between two countries and they will sit together to resolve this," he told ANI

BJP leader and former deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta on Sunday reiterated India's position that there is no need for mediation on Kashmir.

"Yesterday, the foreign secretary said that Pakistan's DGMO made a request, and then we reached an understanding. The talks will be held on May 12 again. For us, Kashmir is not an issue, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is ours and Pakistan should return it to us," Kavinder Gupta told ANI.

He said that the Indian armed forces are fully prepared to give a befitting reply to any Pakistani aggression on India. (ANI)

During a press conference on Friday, Pakistan's Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed said that they tried to tell India with "our tactical brilliance in Pulwama" about the pride and thrust in Pakistani forces.

"Pakistani people, when they are threatened, there's loss of life, loss of material, it cannot go unnoticed," he said.

"The pride and the thrust the Pakistani nation has on its armed forces, we have always upheld it at all cost. We did try to tell them with our tactical brilliance in Pulwama. Now we showed them our operational prowess and strategic guile and guide. I think they should take heed," he added. Read more.

Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said Kashmir, the Indus Waters Treaty and terrorism remain major issues with India and could be discussed in any future dialogue with the neighbouring country.

Asif's comments came when he was asked about tackling the pending issues with India following the understanding reached with India on Saturday to stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea, with immediate effect.

Asif said major issues with India related to the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), terrorism and Kashmir could be discussed in potential talks with India.

“These are the three major issues that can be discussed," the channel quoted Asif as saying. (PTI)

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the country's political leadership, including his coalition partners and opposition, for demonstrating "exemplary" unity and integrity during the four-day confrontation between Pakistani and Indian militaries.

In an address to the nation late Saturday night, Sharif said the "path of peaceful negotiations" should be adopted to solve the longstanding issues between India and Pakistan, including sharing of water resources, and the Kashmir issue. (PTI) 

Congress has reiterated its demanded of an all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra and a special session of Parliament to discuss the situation between India and Pakistan. 

"The Indian National Congress once again demands that an all-party meeting be convened under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister and a special session of Parliament be held on the issues of Pehalgam, Operation Sindoor, and the ceasefire announced first by Washington DC and subsequently by the governments of India and Pakistan, so that comprehensive discussions can take place on all these matters.

The Indian National Congress believes that the mention of a "neutral platform" for dialogue between India and Pakistan by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio raises several questions – have we abandoned the Shimla Agreement? Have we opened the door for third-party mediation?" said Jairam Ramesh in a post on X. 

Deputy Commissioner of Ferozepur, Punjab, said that the situation in the district is peaceful and forces are on constant vigil. The statement by Ferozepur DC also said that work may be resumed as normal. 

Also, people have been advised to avoida bursting crackers and avoid firwarding unverified social media messages. 

The statement read, "A very good morning. Situation is peaceful in Ferozepur. Forces are on constant vigil. Work may be resumed as normal.

As abundant caution:

Please discourage local people from bursting crackers, flying drones and forwarding unverified social media messages. Action may be taken against them. Pl stay away and refrain from spreading any false information/misinformation.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke to India's National Security Advisory (NSA) Ajit Doval and expressed hope that New Delhi and Islamabad would address their differences through dialogue and achieve a lasting ceasefire.

During their conversation, Doval told Wang that war was not India's choice but India needed to take counter-terrorism action after the Pahalgam attack, state-run Xinhua news agency reported in separate dispatches.

Wang also condemned the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which had cross-border linkages and triggered the worst fighting between India and Pakistan in years. (PTI)

For four days, spiralling hostilities between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan had the world on edge. But the end came swiftly, via a phone call at 3.35pm on Saturday. The cessation of hostilities was achieved after a call from Pakistan director general of military operations, Major General Kashif Abdullah, to his Indian counterpart, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai. The former’s offer to stop the firing and the air attacks was met with the response that India too would do the same, people directly familiar with the matter said.

To be sure, Pakistan “breached” agreement later in the evening, as acknowledged by India’s foreign secretary Vikram Misri.

India’s strategic strikes on Pakistani military installations and the US’s nudge to Pakistan Army chief Gen Asim Munir to deescalate – Washington’s backing for a International Monetary Fund bailout package for Islamabad was likely conditional to this – were key factors behind the understanding on stopping military actions, people familiar with the matter said.
