India Pakistan highlights: Govt says armed forces are maintaining strong vigil

Pakistani airbases, Nur Khan air base in Rawalpindi, Murid air base in Chakwal and Rafiqui air base in Jhang, have been attacked.

Surface-to-air missile systems were activated in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar by the armed forces amid escalation between India and Pakistani, news agency ANI reported, citing sources.

It added that heavy engagement with Pakistan was underway over Srinagar and adjoining areas.

Air raid sirens were sounded in Jalandhar on Saturday morning as attack attempts from Pakistan continued.

In view of the escalating tension between India and Pakistan, AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Saturday called all kinds of leaves, including vacation and station leave.

Pakistani shelling hit deceased additional DC Rajouri Raj Kumar Thapa in his house at around 5:30 am on Saturday morning.

A missile reportedly hit outside the Aap Shambu Temple in Jammu early on Saturday.

Late on Friday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the US intends to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan, noting that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been in talks with leaders of both the nations.

"This is something that the secretary of state and of course now our national security adviser as well, Marco Rubio, has been very much involved in. The President wants to see this de-escalate as quickly as possible," she said.

At least five gates of Reasi's Salam Dam on Chenab River were seen open on Saturday morning.

The Rajouri city is under full attack and huge blasts are being heard in the city.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah condoled the demise of Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa.

In a post on X, Abdullah wrote, Devastating news from Rajouri. We have lost a dedicated officer of the J&K Administration Services. Just yesterday he was accompanying the Deputy CM around the district & attended the online meeting I chaired."

"Today the residence of the officer was hit by Pak shelling as they targeted Rajouri town killing our Additional District Development Commissioner Sh Raj Kumar Thappa. I’ve no words to express my shock & sadness at this terrible loss of life. May his soul rest in peace," he added.

Rajouri district additional district development commissioner (ADDC), Raj Kumar Thapa, died in a blast.

Shelling in Jammu city led to civilians suffering multiple damages. Visuals showed broken house lenders and balconies.

The Pakistan government on Friday said the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) executive board approved the first review of its $7 billion program, freeing $1 billion in cash for the country locked in a conflict with India over the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

“Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expresses satisfaction over the approval of a $1 billion tranche by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Pakistan,” the Prime Minister Office (PMO) office said in a statement.

Former Indian Ambassador Vidya Bhushan Soni said that in view of the Pahalgam terror attack, India's actions were those with responsibility, adding that New Delhi has not undertaken any actions that could be deemed blameworthy.

"A message has to be sent to them because they keep doing it... We are a responsible nation. We have responded very responsibly, and we have not taken any action which can be found at fault. So once they have taken the initiative, they have to be told that enough is enough. We are not going to we are not going to accept it anymore. So the response has been very calculated, very precise," he told ANI.

"It's sad that Pakistan has not learnt lessons from the past. Pakistan is not in a position to respond at all because it's a failed state that has been acknowledged for decades by all international agencies and world bodies," he added.

Visuals of the house which was affected by a Pakistan drone attack in Rural Jalandhar's Kanganiwal village.

Surjeet Kaur, whose house it was, told news agency ANI, "A red coloured flash came above our house and there was a huge explosion. We got scared. Everything was dark. We came out of our houses after a short while and saw that the water tank above our houses and our neighbours' houses had exploded. There was a blackout at that time, and all the lights were off."

Houses and properties in Rajouri region were seen damaged following a series of explosions being heard in the area.

The Delhi Airport said that its operations are at present running normally. However, it issued an advisory and said that "some flight scheduled may be impacted and security checkpoint processing times may take longer" due to the evolving airspace conditions and enhanced security measures as per the orders from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Passengers have been advised to "stay updated with guidance from their respective airlines, adhere to hand baggage and check-in luggage regulations, arrive early to accommodate potential delays at security checks, cooperate with airline and security staff for smooth facilitation, and lastly, check flight status through their airline or the official Delhi Airport website".

Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel visited the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar to review the ongoing coordination with district authorities and security agencies in the current situation.

In a post on X, Patel said, "Visited the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar to review the ongoing coordination with district administration and security agencies in the current situation, as well as the actions being taken by the administration keeping in mind, any possible emergencies."

"Gave necessary instructions and guidance to the officials. The state administration, along with central agencies, is fully alert and actively engaged in ensuring the safety of citizens," he added.

A fresh set of explosions were once again heard in Srinagar amid escalating tension between India and Pakistan.

Explosions are reportedly being heard in Jammu almost every couple of minutes for the past one hour.

The G7 foreign ministers said in a statement that they strongly condemn the "egregious terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and urge maximum restrain from both India and Pakistan".

"Further military escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability. We are deeply concerned for the safety of civilians on both sides," it added.

The G7 ministers called for "immediate de-escalation and encourage both countries to engage in direct dialogue towards a peaceful outcome".

The foreign ministers of the G7 countries, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the US, said they continue to closely monitor the situation between India and Pakistan and "express our support for a swift and lasting diplomatic resolution".

Air sirens are being sounded in Udhampur as smoke was seen rising from a spot following a loud explosion in the Dibber area.

Early on Saturday, locals in Srinagar reported hearing two massive explosions.

Pakistan early on Saturday claimed that its three airbases were targeted by Indian missiles and drones. Pakistan military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry told a hurriedly called press conference in Islamabad around 4am that Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal) and Rafiqui (Shorkot in Jhang district) airbases of Pakistan Air Force were targeted.

However, the army spokesperson provided no details to back his claims.
