Congress MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Monday said that now is the time for Indians to remain united and peaceful as terrorists attacked us with the agenda of breaking the country's long-hailed unity.

“At this moment, the incident that has happened is an opportunity for everyone to unite and maintain an atmosphere of brotherhood in the country. The terrorists came with a targeted agenda," he told PTI.

The Indian government on Monday wrote to India head of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) over its coverage of the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.

Officials told HT that a formal letter was written to the BBC on the terming of terrorists as “militants”. The XP division of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will be monitoring the reporting by the BBC.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11 am in New Delhi on Monday. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval will also be a part of the meeting, media reports suggest.

The US State Department on Sunday said that Washington was in touch with both India and Pakistan and urged them to work towards what it called a "responsible solution" as tensions have risen between the two Asian nations following a recent Islamist militant attack in Kashmir, Reuters reported.

Syed Naseruddin Chishty, Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, strongly condemned the cross-border terror attack in Pahalgam, highlighting that "for the first time in 50 years, the people of Kashmir are openly chanting slogans against Pakistan."

Actor Atul Kulkarni, who visited Pahalgam on Sunday, said, his through his visit, he wants to give a message that Indians should not be scared and not isolate Kashmir due to fear.

“I read that 90% of bookings have been cancelled here. The message that the terrorists are giving is not to come to Kashmir. This is not going to happen. This is our Kashmir, our country, and we will come here,” he told ANI.

Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang on Sunday participated in a candle march held in solidarity with the victims of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
