Addressing the people of Pakistan directly from a Bharatiya Janata Party meet in Kozhikode, Modi said a day will come when they will go against their own government to fight terrorism.

However, his speech received a mixed reaction on Twitter. While some lauded it as a “fine, sober” response in the backdrop of the Uri attack that claimed 18 lives, others felt it lacked punch. Both #KeralaWithNaMo and #KeralaNotWithNamo were trending.

But not everyone was onboard with the Prime Minister’s decision to respond to violence with development. Many even stressed how unlikely it was for the BJP to win in the South Indian state.
