PM Modi Kyrgyzstan Visit LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Sunday to attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, which begins on Monday. Earlier, he was in Uzbekistan for a two-day visit. During his state visit to Uzbekistan, PM Modi and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met to reflect on the full spectrum of bilateral relations, rooted in civilisational ties built over centuries and strengthened by strong people-to-people ties, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

PM Modi and President Mirziyoyev reviewed cooperation in trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people ties at the Presidential Palace. The leaders also share perspectives on advancing the shared developmental visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.

President Mirziyoyev also conferred the Order of “Oliy Darajali Do'stlik,” Uzbekistan’s supreme state award, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Apart from bilateral meetings, PM Modi also visited the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

PM Modi on two-nation tour, to attend SCO Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a two-nation tour. After his visit to Uzbekistan, the PM will travel to Bishkek in the Kyrgyz Republic for the 26th SCO Summit on August 31 and September 1, 2026.

"Prime Minister will address the Summit, where he will highlight India’s priorities of Security, Connectivity and Opportunity at the forum. The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the SCO leaders on the sidelines of the Summit. He will also attend the Opening Ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Central Asia," reads a statement from the ministry of external affairs.

During the visit, India and Uzbekistan decided to elevate their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership and set a target of USD 5 billion in annual trade by 2030 following talks between PM Modi and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The two sides inked 11 agreements to boost engagement in several key sectors, including mining and tourism, and agreed to establish a framework for the long-term supply of Uranium from Uzbekistan to India, in line with cooperation in the civil nuclear energy sector.

The Modi-Mirziyoyev talks focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, critical minerals, mining, defence and security, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, health, information technology, digital public infrastructure, including UPI, and education.

The two sides also set the target of USD 5 billion in annual bilateral trade by 2030, Modi said in his press statement. The current volume of bilateral trade between the two nations is over USD 1 billion.

Both leaders announced the elevation of India-Uzbekistan strategic ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting the growing depth and scope of cooperation.

The BJP on Sunday hailed the conferment of Uzbekistan's highest state honour on Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "proud moment for every Indian" and said it reflects the growing "global recognition" of his leadership and India's influence.

Modi was on Sunday conferred with Uzbekistan's prestigious 'Oliy Darajali Do'stlik' Order, which he dedicated to the "enduring" bond between India and Uzbekistan.

The prime minister is in Uzbekistan on a two-day visit to bolster ties in a range of areas, including trade, clean energy and connectivity.

Modi was conferred with the honour by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Congratulating the prime minister on being conferred with the prestigious award, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on X, "A grand moment of pride for every Indian, as the Modi doctrine of diplomacy pushes new frontiers, bolstering the voice of the Global South and advancing our civilisational goal of the welfare of humankind by fortifying bonds between nations."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said this prestigious recognition is a testimony to PM Modi's "visionary leadership" and his "steadfast efforts" to deepen the enduring friendship between India and Uzbekistan.

"It is also a proud affirmation of India's rising global stature, growing influence and the strong partnerships that New India is building across the world. It is a moment of great pride for 1.4 billion Indians," Singh said on X.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the award is a recognition of PM Modi's "steadfast efforts" to deepen India-Uzbekistan friendship.

"Pleased to witness the conferment of Uzbekistan's Highest Award for Foreign Leaders, 'Oliy Darajali Do'stlik' Order on PM @narendramodi," he wrote on X.

"Confident that this honour, along with the landmark visit, will provide a new momentum to our ties," he added.

BJP president Nitin Nabin hailed the conferment of the award on Modi as a "proud moment for every Indian" and said it reflects the growing "global recognition" of his leadership.

"As the 36th international state honour bestowed upon PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, it reflects the growing global recognition of his leadership and India's rising stature, while celebrating the enduring bond of friendship and partnership between India and Uzbekistan," the BJP chief said on X.

In a post on X, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the conferment of the prestigious award on PM Modi reflects his efforts to deepen India-Uzbekistan relations and underscores India's "rising global stature".

Congratulating the prime minister on being honoured with Uzbekistan's highest state award, Union minister J P Nadda said this marks PM Modi's 35th global recognition, reflecting the world's appreciation for his leadership, commitment to global peace and vision for development.

"India's global rise, recognised!" Nadda said in a post on X.

"A proud moment for 140 crore Indians and a testament to the enduring friendship between India and Uzbekistan," he added.

PM Modi Uzbekistan Visit LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday participated in a yoga programme organised by the 'Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan' in Tashkent, with residents praising the event and highlighting the role of yoga in strengthening ties between India and Uzbekistan.

After participating in the yoga programme, Kristina, a resident of Tashkent, said that the event was a great experience and expressed hope that yoga would bring the two countries closer.

Speaking to ANI, Kristina said, "It was a great experience, especially with such a great person who came to Uzbekistan. It was really a great experience. I think it (Yoga) will take the relationship to a new level. It will bring the two countries closer and strengthen the friendship."
