Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, saying that the people of Uttar Pradesh felt betrayed by Modi and have decided to not give him a second term.
In a press release, Mayawati said, “Narendra Modi is moving around the state saying that 22 crore people of UP made him the prime minister. He is speaking the truth. Now the people are asking him as to why he betrayed them after becoming PM.”
“Modi should realise the fact that people can make him prime minister as well as remove him from the post, the preparation for which has started in the ongoing Lok Sabha election,” she added.
The BSP supremo also accused Modi of getting his caste included in the Backward Class category for electoral gains.
On Friday, Mayawati also said that SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav was the only “real” backward community leader in the country and not a “fake OBC” leader like Prime Minister Modi.
The statement comes in the backdrop of PM Modi’s statement during a rally on April 10, where he said that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi hurt his ‘backward caste’ by stating that all thieves have the surname ‘Modi’.
UP BJP leader Chandramohan said, “Mayawatiji knows that the foundation on which she built her politics is hollow. Instead of worrying about us, she should do well to ponder on her political future after May 23 results by when we expect SP chief Akhilesh Yadav will break alliance with BSP. But like in the past when we saved her life from goons of SP and made her chief minister too, if she requires us, we would support her again.”
