12 held in Chennai for possessing fake passports

Twelve persons were arrested at the airport in Chennai on Saturday on charges of possessing fake passports and visas, police says.

Twelve persons were arrested at the airport in Chennai on Saturday on charges of possessing fake passports and visas, police said.

The arrested were from the southern districts like Pudukottai, Thanjavur and Ramanathapuram, police said adding that they were planning to fly to Paris via Dubai.

Immigration officials, after detecting the fake documents, handed them over to the Airport Police, said the police.

Search was on for a travel agent, identified as Alwar, who is accused of getting the fake passports for the arrested, police added.
