After sending 54 polling parties to Chakrata on Friday, the district election office dispatched 138 more polling parties to Chakrata on Saturday.
Additional district magistrate (ADM), Dehradun, Vinod Suman told HT that due to difficult terrain and inclement weather conditions in Chakrata, polling parties had been sent in advance. He said till date all the polling parties had been sent to Chakrata only.
A total of 966 polling personnel were sent to Chakrata from Dehradun’s Parade Ground on Saturday.
Till date, 192 polling parties out of total 1,485 have been sent on election duty. Notably, one polling party consists of at least seven persons headed by a presiding officer.
The ADM said that the remaining 1,293 polling parties would be dispatched on Sunday along with EVMs, which would be provided to them just before they leave for their respective polling stations.
On Saturday, all those government employees who would be leaving on Sunday were called at Parade Ground for briefing related to elections and the presiding officers were also provided with necessary election materials used during polling by the district election office.
Notably, almost 7,500 employees, including state and central government staff, would be deputed on election duty for successful conduct of poll in the ten assembly seats of Dehradun district.
