15 MLAs from Bihar 'graduate' to Parliament

They got their basic training in debating and leadership skills in the legislative assembly and now 15 MLAs from Bihar are headed to the Lok Sabha to perfect their craft.

They got their basic training in debating and leadership skills in the legislative assembly and now 15 MLAs from Bihar are headed to the Lok Sabha to perfect their craft.

The biggest chunk of 11 legislators, who have made it to Lok Sabha, belongs to ruling JD(U) followed by its NDA ally - BJP (3) and RJD (one).

JD(U) had fielded 12 of its MLAs, including state ministers Brishen Patel, Dinesh Chandra Yadav and Damodar Rawat. Besides, it had fielded Maheshwar Hazari, who parted company with the LJP,from Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency, and Mahabali Singh, who resigned as RJD member in the house.

Barring Brishen Patel, Damodar Rawat and party MLA Vijay Kumar Shukla, rest of the legislators who tried their luck at the hustings emerged victorious.

The ruling party's MLAs who won the elections to the 15th Lok Sabha are Baidyanath Prasad Mahato (Valmikinagar), Purnamasi Ram (Gopalganj-SC), Jagdish Sharma (Jehanabad), Bhudeo Choudhary (Jamui), Arjun Rai (Sitamarhi), Ashwamedh Devi (Ujiarpur), Vishwamohan Kumar (Supaul), Monazir Hasan (Begusarai), besides state Industry minister Dinesh Chandra Yadav (Khagaria).
