19 injured in grenade blasts in Srinagar

Terrorists lobbs grenade at a patrolling party of CRPF and police near I'd Gah in old city, reports Rashid Ahmed.

The capital Srinagar was rocked by a series of grenade blasts late in the evening on Saturday. At least 19 persons, five of them CRPF personnel, have been reported injured in the blasts. Al Mansoorein terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the blasts.

Police sources said that the militants tossed a hand grenade on a CRPF picket near Shah Cinema at Qamarwari at 6.30pm causing injuries to two CRPF jawans. Five passersby (all civilians) were also hit by the splinters. The injured have been rushed to hospital, where condition of two injured persons was stated to be critical.

Twenty minutes later terrorists lobbed another grenade at a patrolling party of CRPF and police near I'd Gah in old city. Sources said that the explosive however missed the target and exploded on road causing injuries to seven civilians.

Just five minutes later militants again targeted a CRPF formation at Boulevard in the world famous waterbody Dal Lake with a grenade and injured three jawans.

A caller identifying himself spokesperson of Al masoorien terrorist group told newspaper offices on phone that his group caused the grenade blasts.
