As Shiv Sainiks protested the alleged desecration of late Meenatai Thackeray's bust on Sunday, people claimed that two idols of lord Ganesh and lord Hanuman at a nearby gymnasium were also defiled.

The idols, at Shivaji Park, were found dislodged from a platform created in the gymnasium and an attempt was allegedly made to defile them, residents said.
"The gymnasium is located in the precincts of the bust located on the periphery of the Shivaji Park ground and we suspect that the same unknown persons who desecrated the bust may have attempted to defile the idols," a senior police official said on Sunday.
Shiv Sena legislator, Diwakar Raote, later said that he would carry the idols to the legislature on Monday seeking justice from the government on the desecration and defiling issue.
Raote also said that the Sena legislators would press for action against senior police officials for their failure to prevent the incident, and lobbing teargas shells on Shiv Sainiks.
