3 LeT terrorists, 1 jawan killed in J&K encounter

The encounter took place between the security personnel and terrorists late on Thursday night.

Three LeT terrorists and an army jawan were killed and four other soldiers injured in a fierce gunbattle in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, official sources said.

Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists at Gundana area of Doda district, army and police launched a joint operation on Thursday night to nab the terrorists, they said.

During the operation, an encounter took place between the security personnel and terrorists late on Thursday night, which continued till early hours on Friday, they said.

While three LeT terrorists were killed in the encounter, one soldier also lost his life. Four jawans were also injured in the gunbattle, the sources said.

Based on intercepts, the deceased terrorists have been identified as Abu Zubair, Ashraf Ganai and Mubarak Ali. The jawan who lost his life is Sepoy Subhash.

While body of one of the three terrorists has been found, search for the other bodies is on in the vast area, they said. The injured jawans have been admitted to a hospital in Doda.

Two AK rifles, three magazines, 17 grenades, one wireless set, one pistol and some explosive material were recovered from the encounter site, the sources added.
