Nitesh Kumar, whose house at Ansal Town was burgled on January 23, filed a complaint at the Tajganj police station saying Rs 15,000 and gold jewellery weighing about four tolas or 40 grams were taken away by thieves.
Police gave Kumar a copy of the FIR which mentioned the cost of four tolas or 40 grams of gold as Re 1. The actual cost would be a little over Rs 1 lakh.
When contacted inspector Arun Kumar, station head of Tajganj police station, said there was a typing error in the FIR. Kumar added that it has been rectified.
