7 dead, 6 missing in flood and landslide in Nepal

Meanwhile, the Nepal government has appealed to the international community for assistance to provide shelter and food to thousands of flood victims.

At least seven people, including two children, were killed in flood, landslide and lightning in various parts of Nepal, police said.

Three people, including two children, aged six and eight, died in a landslide at Ranipokhari village in Tanahun district in western Nepal on Saturday.

Also, six people have gone missing after their houses in the village were swept away.

A woman was killed by flood at Kabilas village in Chitawan district due to incessant rain, that swept away some 300 houses disrupting normal life, officials said.

Two people were killed by lightning and one killed by landslide in Hetauda in Makawanpur district in central Nepal.

Different parts of Munling-Narayangarh road sector of the East-West highway have been blocked by landslide since Saturday morning, officials said. Efforts were on to clear the roads.
