8-year-old girl raped in Delhi

In yet another incident of rape in the Capital, an 8-yr-old girl was sexually assaulted by an unidentified youth on Friday night.

In yet another incident of rape in the capital, an eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an unidentified youth on Friday night, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred after the victim, daughter of a labourer, had gone to attend a public function in Sarai Rohilla area of north Delhi.

After the programme was over, she stayed back for food. A youth then took her to a nearby place on the pretext of offering food and allegedly raped her, they added.

The victim was spotted by a cop near a police post in Ashok Vihar at around midnight when she was returning home, police said.

She narrated the incident to him, they said and added the cop took her to her home and then to a hospital where a medical examination confirmed rape.

A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the culprit.
