Samajawadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh celebrated his 51st birthday in style on Saturday. Adding star quotient to the function were the Bollywood’s first family, the Bachchans, Aishwarya Rai, and Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. On the occasion, a special puja was held at the Vindhyavasini temple in Mirzapur.

Although it was Amar Singh’s birthday, the focus was clearly on Abhishek and Aishwarya, who also performed a puja at the famous Vindhyavasini temple. It was their first public appearance together after their engagement in Mumbai.

On the occasion, a mass marriage ceremony of 51 couples, belonging to poor families, was solemnised in the presence of Amitabh Bachchan and Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. Bachchan is also reported to have performed kanyadaan.

Later, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Amitabh Bachchan and Amar Singh briefly addressed the function where they blessed the newly wed couples.

Both Yadav and Bachchan congratulated Amar Singh on his birthday. In his inimitable style, Amar Singh described Aishwarya Rai as the bahu of UP.

The VVIP devotees arrived at Vindhyachal by helicopters from the Varanasi airport.

For the Bachchan family, this was a second visit to the famous Vindhyavasini temple in less than two months.

Last November 27, the entire family of Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai had gone to the temple town of Varanasi and performed ‘pujas’ inside the famous

Vishwanath Temple and Sankat Mochan Temple.
