This Bihar cop is not quite Shah Jahan, but his wife is called Mumtaz and he clearly loves her just as much as the Mughal emperor - the only problem being that his token of love modelled on the Taj Mahal was built inside a police station!

And Mohammed Islam's wife Mumtaz is very much alive. The officer-in-charge of Sakra police station in Muzaffarpur district, 70 km from here, built his monument of love where the flag hoisting platform was supposed to be.

Naturally, the powers that be were not amused at his amorous obsession even while at work and Islam was suspended for misusing his power.

Though he called the small cottage Mumtaz Hawa Mahal, Islam is supposed to have been inspired by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who built the magnificent marble mausoleum in Agra in the 17th century.

An inquiry is being conducted against Islam, who collected money and construction material from villagers and nearby markets to build his dream project.

"The Mumtaj Hawa Mahal looks like a small cottage and resembles Taj Mahal," said a police official.
