Addressing a joint press conference at their residence on Thursday, Haji Mehtab Hussain, Naiyer Hussain, Jamin Hussain, Kazim Hussain and Nazim Hussain blasted the journalist couple Shivnath Jha and Nina Jha for using Ustad Bismillah Khan’s name in their quest for amassing wealth when he was alive.
“This couple, who met our father only three times, suddenly started showing concern for our late father as if they knew more about him,” the sons said. They also accused the couple of making money by seeking funds from the government and private organisations for arranging cultural programmes where the sehnai maestro had recited his instument on several occasions.
“We treated our father well and we all are united. There is no question of any dispute on account of our property”, they said. To recall, the couple had alleged that the family had not treated well Bismillah Khan when he was ill.
The couple, they alleged, did not give any account of the book they wrote on Bismillah Khan. Jha’s 12 cheques (each amounting to Rs 10,000) as one time royalty of Rs 1.20 lakh were also dishonoured, they claimed.
