Kala Dungi block president Balwant Singh Kaniyal, who is also accused in a murder case, had a fight on Saturday evening with the accused. The official did not name the accused.

The two were called to the police station for questioning after a tiff between them.

The men started fighting again when the police official left the room. The accused took out his pistol and shot Kaniyal from a close range, the official said.
